I'm kind of j-j-jaded when it comes to something that promises to reduce redness.
Redness reducing products just never seem to work on me. I am really fair, and as I've gotten older, my skin has become more sensitive and as a result-ruddy. One of my cheeks is rosier than the other which really bothers me. I always have to put extra concealer on that cheek to avoid looking like someone just slapped me!
I haven't found a green colour corrector that I like yet. Most of the creams correctors are a heavy, dry consistency that just sits on top of my skin. They are hard to blend out and I end up with a weird grey colour on my face.
When Smashbox Halo Yellow Colour Correcting Hydrating Powder debuted I was intrigued. I do like their Halo Hydrating Powder; it is one of my favourite powder foundations. But I kept talking myself out of purchasing it. I finally caved in and bought it during the Sephora 20% Off VIB event in November.
It's probably one of the best purchases I made that night.

is that the application is extremely easy-just dip your brush in and apply to areas of redness.
The second thing I love about it? Well, I'll show you:

Not bad, hey? The redness is not completely gone, but there is a definite reduction!
Smashbox Halo Yellow Color Correcting Hydrating Powder immediately reduces redness and balances my skin tone quite a bit, making the redness much easier to cover with a powder foundation. It also doesn't irritate my skin or make me itch, which is a definite plus. Halo Yellow Color Correcting Hydrating Powder is perfect to use under any powder foundation you have, and it pairs beautifully with the original Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder, or any other mineral based foundation you have. You can also use it as a finishing/setting powder over your foundation which works quite well too.
Smashbox Halo Yellow Color Correcting Hydrating Powder contains 48 minerals, pure gold, 11 amino acids and a peptide that's supposed to also give great anti-aging benefits including an immediate decrease in wrinkles and the effect is apparently cumulative over time. Since this is a yellow powder, you can use this under your eyes to reduce dark circles or to set your under-eye concealer. It doesn't settle into any fine lines around my eyes and does seem to blur them.
I am very happy with Smashbox Halo Yellow Color Correcting Hydrating Powder and it's been making me want to use my Halo Hydrating Powder Foundation and any mineral foundation more often. Smashbox Halo Yellow Colour Correcting Hydrating Powder costs $39 US for 0.25oz. Yes, it is expensive for a small amount of product. But the redness reducing power is well worth the cost for me.

I'm intrigued by this! I don't really have an issue with reddness but I know it's a concern for some of my friends. Thanks for review!
ReplyDelete@Elaine A: You are most welcome! I hope it helps. It's hard when you have redness issues to find something that works.
ReplyDeletein my experience, yellow concealer is much better at color-correcting red than green is. I like the little turning dispenser for this powder :) nice review!
ReplyDelete@Makeup Morsels: I agree-I've never found a green one that did a good job. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI need this!
ReplyDeleteI've tried the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Anti-Redness Primer but it doesn't reduce redness at all but it doesn't disappear into the skin.. it just sits there so you have a green & red face. The Everyday Minerals Color Corrector in Mint kind of turns me into a ghost if I use too much..
I think I'll try yellow powders instead of green from now on. Thanks for the review, Tracy!
@ Ashley: I have that Everyday Minerals Mint corrector too-same thing happens to me. I hope this works as well for you as it does for me too!
ReplyDeleteDid your Stereo Rose arrive yet?
Unfortunately, it hasn't! I'm really peeved with the mail men lately. They are utterly ridiculous. I'm expecting a few packages this month but apparently the mail men don't care. Last month, they left a package out in the open, on my steps for all of my neighbours to see & steal. This time, they came by & didn't even knock & left with my package. No notification card, nothing. They may have come back the next day but again, no notification card. Either that or they left it on my porch again & someone really did steal it. I'm waiting by the door tomorrow. I better get my package because it's the 11th business day & I expect on the 10th at the latest.
ReplyDelete@Ashley: I hope it gets there soon. I sent it out on Dec.27th but with all the days off they had over the holidays(including today) stuff does take longer. My mail man does the same sometimes-just leave stuff outside. But luckily I live in a real quiet neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteWow you really can see a difference! Fab review x
ReplyDelete@Claire@Eyelining: Thanks Claire!
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem with green color correctors- they don't blend well and end up making me look sickly and weird. DreamWorld minerals makes some mineral powder color correctors that world fabulously. Meow cosmetics do too. I think they work well because they are such finely milled powder and because they are powder and mineral they blend very well and work under or over other makeup. You can get samples too.
ReplyDelete@beautyfromanotherplanet: I've never heard of DreamWorld or Meow cosmetics. I'llhave to do some investigating! Thanks for the tip!
