Benefit They're Real! is another "do it all kind" of mascara, which all new mascaras are claiming to be. This one is supposed to give you the false lashes look: luscious, curled, volumized, glossy black lashes that won't smudge, flake or budge, or dry out.
The brush is supposed to be the secret to this mascara. It has staggered bristles that are supposed to grab every lash you have and get close to the roots to give curl and volume. There are also bristles on the tip of the brush because you can use it vertically to give curl and definition.
I don't know about you guys, but this brush looks similar to the Buxom Amplified Mascara I reviewed last week. It's the same kind of hard, plastic, spiky brush that every company seems to be using now. This one is a little spikier than the Buxom one, and being spikier, hence a tiny bit ouchy. Just a bit.
The formula is a a little thicker, which I like. Now, I like to really layer and build my mascara and the directions for Benefit's They're Real! Mascara say to generously coat lashes. Sounds like it's perfect for me, right?

Not bad I say! Benefit They're Real is nicely volumizing-I got a lot of lashes in the after shot! It's pretty clump free for two coats, but the formula tends to get too sticky on the third coat and feels like it's getting crunchy if you keep trying to put on more. However, my lashes didn't feel crunchy to the touch. I also wish that it was blacker. It's actually a very natural black, but I like my mascara blacker than black, if ya' know what I mean. Also, it's hardly glossy, at least on me.
Benefit They're Real! Mascara did not flake, smear or budge on me, and I even wore it during my run again and it stayed put. But does it deliver that false lashes look? I'll leave it for you to decide...
