When I shop for makeup, I shop by myself. Well, sometimes my hubby is with me but he is usually off to the side checking his Blackberry, so that still counts as shopping by myself. If I'm ever asked if I need help, I usually say no thank you. There's one or two SAs I don't mind, but generally Department Stores, especially Holt Renfrew make me nervous when I shop for makeup. I just don't like when someone is all over me trying to influence my little makeup junkie buying brain because it's easily swayed! I need to be FOCUSED. I swatch, I look at that swatch in different lights, I do some thinking, and then I pay for my new found pretty, or leave it behind. That's it. Not too exciting and not really fun, hey?
I don't even let SAs offer to test things out on me. I will rarely let someone at a makeup counter put a product on my face. And you know why? Whenever I have, I looked like a complete and utter fool: too much blush, cakey makeup-never ever never ever again will I let someone do that to me!
I just don't think I trust anybody enough when it comes to makeup. Now, if I was able to shop with my beauty blogging buddies-that would be a whole different experience I think! I did have a chance to shop a tiny bit with Larie@Eye Hear It and Monika@Rocaille Writes when I was in Seattle in December and it was dare I say: FUN.
But, I think I still prefer being a lone wolf. But then again, maybe not. Maybe if I DID shop with other wolves I would think differently about makeup. Not so obsessively maybe?
