But you know what? I am really liking Marcelle BB Cream which is a moisturizer, tinted corrector, and makeup base all in one. Marcelle is not trying to say that this will replace your foundation at all, and I like that they point that out because it's not a foundation. But I do think this is the best BB Cream I've tried so far.
Marcelle Beauty Balm is oil free, paraben free, hypo-allergenic and perfume free which is great! It contains all kinds of good stuff like Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerine, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Green Tea and Chamomile.
Marcelle suggests to use the BB Cream, in 3 different ways:
1) The Marcelle BB Cream is a day cream which should be applied after the skin has been properly cleansed as a corrective tinted moisturizer. For a more intense moisture surge, the BB Cream may be applied on previously moisturized skin.2) Use it alone or over your moisturizer to unify your complexion.
3) Use it as a make-up base under foundation for total coverage and improved stay-on power.
Call me silly, but I think #1 and #2 are the same thing? No?
I don't know, but to me there's two ways to use it: Use it, or don't use it-right? I'm a simple girl and see things in pretty simple ways :)
Here's what the Marcelle Beauty Balm claims it will do for your skin and my results:
-Minimizes the appearance of imperfections and pores- YUP
-Evens out skin tone-YUP-but redness doesn't completely get covered
-Provides an excellent make-up base and replaces primers-YUP-this does make a great primer!
-Matifies skin and controls shine-For about 8 hours-I actually get some shine after that
-Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits- I use moisturizer before, but YUP
-Soothes and calms skins-Sure, it feels good!
-Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses-maybe? this would take more time I guess
-Promotes skin regeneration- maybe??
-Ultra-lightweight formula leaves skin with “nothing on” feel- after it settles on your skin of course!
At first, I thought the Marcelle BB Cream lab sample(the tube I received looks just like the one in this stock photo, but has no printing on it at all!) I got was going to be too dark, but it has self-adjusting pigments so it managed to match pretty nicely to my skin tone. Oh, btw, it comes in 2 shades-light/medium and a medium/dark. It blends in really nicely and kind of melts into your skin. No brush needed and I like that because it's my preferred method of applying foundation. One pump is enough for my whole face-chubby cheeks and all! I used another half a pump on the redder areas of my cheeks, but my redness still poked through a bit. Even so, it nicely evens out the complexion, minimizes pores, mattifies the skin but leaves it feeling moisturized. I was kind of amazed at how long it lasted, which was about 8 hours. I got some shine on my forehead after that.
I have to say that I do like Marcelle BB Cream! It's a bit more mattifying than a regular tinted moisturizer, but still manages to give a slight glow. I think that my face looks a bit redder than I like, but for running around to do errands and going about my daily business, it's pretty darn good I say! My only complaint is that there is no SPF in it. I hope Marcelle comes out with one for the summer, and I bet they will. Will the Marcelle BB Cream replace foundation for me? On days off, yes! I like that you can't see it at all on your skin. It seamlessly blends in and looks like your skin, but better. I think this is a good option for those who have minimum issues and want to put something on that's going make your skin look better, but not look like you are wearing a lot of makeup. And for the rest of us who want a bit more coverage, all you need is Marcelle BB Cream and some concealer and powder and you are good to go!
But PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE Marcelle come out with one that has an SPF!
Marcelle BB Cream will be available at pharmacies and mass retail stores across Canada as of February 6, 2012. But you can order it online at www.marcelle.com right now as long as supplies last.
