Cartoon Saturdays: Princess Tiana Of Disney's Princess And The Frog

My daughter was SUPER EXCITED when Disney announced they'd be making The Princess and The Frog. I believe she did a happy dance as I recall.

Why?

 Princess and The Frog marked Disney's return to traditional animation since 2004, which they stupidly abandoned under the direction of F#@!! Michael Eisner. When John Lasseter became Chief Creative Officer of Disney(as well as Pixar), the genius wanted Disney to get back to it's animation roots of 2D hand drawn animation. My daughter has dreams of becoming an animator, and if she has the choice-she'd rather animate in 2D not 3D. So, you can see why she was so happy when this movie was announced! The film had a few early troubles which I won't bore you with, but the end result is a glorious cartoon with an amazing soundtrack, not to mention one of the BEST Disney Princesses ever, Tiana.

Tiana is the first African-American princess in the Disney Princess franchise. About time, right? Tiana is motivated, determined, and an independent young woman who finds pride in doing things her own way, without help from anyone. A lot of singers/actresses wanted to voice Tiana including Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and even Tyra Banks, but in the end Anika Noni Rose won the role. Tiana is left handed, just like Anika Noni Rose.

 

I used colours based off of Tiana's gorgeous water lily inspired dress in my inspired EOTD.  Some light green and yellow eyeshadows, some green double eye liner, some sparkles and you get a Princess Tiana eye look!
